Web Design and Development for Coyen

Saturday, July 9th, 2016

Coyen is a local womenswear fashion boutique, specialising in Casual, Smart-Casual and Evening Wear. A website was needed for this boutique in order to showcase the pieces which are carefully hand-picked by the owner. Furthermore, the need for a holistic online presence was felt, which is why we were asked to design and develop this website.

The design of the website took place after a consultation with the client. It was established that the boutique’s online presence was required to mirror the calibre and elegance of the boutique. The consultation was followed by a photoshoot which took place the boutique itself, using the store’s signature red wall as a backdrop, which would also set the tone of the website eventually.

Once the design stage of the process was finalised, web development commenced. It was necessary for this site to embody the boutique and its owner’s vision, therefore a lot of attention to aesthetic detail was paid. The website featured a section showing Coyen’s latest collection with the professionally taken photos portrayed as thumbnails in a gallery, opening up as pop-up photos with backward and forward arrows. The menu was also developed in a vertical way, rather than the more common horizontal menu at the top of the page so as to facilitate website navigation.
A Content Management System (CMS) was also set up in order for the client to be able to update and edit details on the website, such as uploading new pieces and collections. It was also very important for the website to be optimised for device responsiveness, making it mobile-friendly, as well as tablet-friendly. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) was also implemented, making the website rank higher in searches such as on Google.

The website was also integrated with Facebook Messenger, whereby customers can contact the Coyen Facebook page on Messenger directly through the website. We were also entrusted with Coyen’s online marketing, the design of several alerts and the planning, design and implementation of an ongoing Facebook marketing campaign.

We wish the team behind Coyen plenty of success with their brand new website and their newly-renovated and updated online presence.

Facebook to reduce number of business posts on user timelines

Feb

Facebook have announced that they will be reducing the number of posts from Business pages from people’s news feeds. This will be done to increase the quantity of posts by friends while scrolling through the social medium. The reasoning behind this, according to Mark Zuckerberg, is that using social media to interact with people we care about can be beneficial, while “passively reading articles or watching videos… may not be as good.”
